Density polyethylene and low density polyethylene

Density polyethylene and low density polyethylene

Polyethylene people know as (PE) , it is a thermoplastic polymer with a variable crystal structure that has the simplest molecular structure n (CH2-CH2–) among polymers and has a wide range of applications depending on its specific type. This plastic material was first produced in 1933 by Faust and Gibson in a laboratory, and today this type of plastic is widely produced and used in the world, ie about tens of millions of tons per year; Hence this exceptional polymer is widely used in plastic products around the world

Types of polyethylene

There are several types of polyethylenes, two of which are the most popular, one being low density polyethylene (LDPE) and the other being high density polyethylene (HDPE). The term density used to describe this type of plastic refers to the ways in which polymer molecules bond. In fact, the molecular structure is what makes all kinds of plastics with different properties. Both HDPE and LDPE polyethylenes are used in the manufacture of plastic pipes, but they are common in a number of attributes and are different in many others, and therefore the uses of each of them are different. Production and supply of various types of polyethylene pipes, irrigation pipes, irrigation tapes and valved pipes.

Polyethylene is classified as a “thermoplastic” as opposed to a “thermoplastic” and a useful and important feature of thermoplastics is that they can be melted several times, ie by cooling and heating their properties. Do not lose, while thermoset or thermosetting plastic can only be heated once (normally during the injection molding process). The first heating raises the temperature of the materials needed, resulting in a chemical change that cannot be reversed. Another important point about polyethylenes is that each type of polyethylenes contains tens or even hundreds of different species that are separated by the term grid, and each of them has its own characteristics.

Low density polyethylene (LDPE) creates a very flexible material with unique properties. LDPE polymer chains have more side branches than HDPE, which makes it soft and flexible in a plastic. This lowers its tensile strength. But in contrast, this plastic has high ductility and this feature is used a lot, for example, this polyethylene for the production of plastic parts, polyethylene pipes, polymer sheets, fibers, containers and films. Used for packaging materials, plastic bags and so on.

Ethylene molecules in LDPE pipes are connected to each other quite randomly and therefore will have a very irregular shape. Unlike HDPE, it is produced at high pressures and temperatures. LDPE can even transmit light and is highly ductile. It has less chemical resistance than HDPE and polypropylene, but will be resistant to many mineral acids as well as alkalis. However, they should be avoided in contact with alkanes, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons and strong oxidants (HNO3).

The connection of different parts is done by melting welding. In this way, plumbing in this way will be more economical and it should be said that compared to other available materials, it is suitable for water and sewage lines and other services. However, it should be noted that pipes made of LDPE should not be exposed Exposure to high pressure or temperature.
